Cockle Bay Renovation & Structural Deck Transformation

Suburb: Cockle Bay, Auckland
Build type: Renovation and structural outdoor living addition

This coastal Cockle Bay home underwent a significant transformation focused on enhancing outdoor living and modernising the interior layout for contemporary family life.

Working alongside Dave Evans of Evans Building Services, Lewis Build joined the project during the late demolition phase to construct a substantial north-east facing two-storey deck. Built from laminated structural timber with recessed hardware, the structure required handmade trusses fabricated on site and custom stainless-steel plates to achieve both strength and clean architectural lines.

The deck connects seamlessly to the home’s living areas and pool zone, wrapped in a timeless timber balustrade and finished with wide Vitex boards laid flush with the interior floor level to create effortless indoor–outdoor flow.

Inside, the main living spaces were reconfigured into an open-plan layout filled with natural light. Skylights above the kitchen and entry enhance brightness throughout the day, while the front gable bedroom wing was extended and fully renovated. A new covered entry and bespoke feature door complete the home’s refreshed street presence.

Outcome: A carefully executed renovation that elevates both lifestyle and functionality, transforming a well-lived-in property into a light-filled coastal retreat.
