Suburb: Kumeu, West Auckland
Architect: Lesley England
Interior Design: Bonham Interiors
Build type: Sustainable rural residence
Set in the rural landscape of West Auckland, this high-performance eco home was designed to prioritise energy efficiency, comfort, and healthy living while maintaining a calm, contemporary aesthetic.
The project marked Lewis Build’s first use of the SIP panel system by Formance, significantly improving insulation performance and airtightness. The exterior combines designer-series brick with cedar shiplap accents and custom aluminium soffits, creating a refined yet durable façade suited to its environment.
Powered by solar energy, the home incorporates underfloor heating and advanced ventilation systems to maintain consistent temperature and air quality year-round. Inside, polished concrete floors, floating stairs, and a lift reinforce the home’s modern design while supporting accessibility and long-term usability.
The interior concept was inspired by a desire for tranquillity and simplicity, drawing on Japanese design principles to create a calm, restorative atmosphere throughout.
“Good people to deal with and great team on site. No hesitation using the Lewis team again.”
— Rita, Kumeu
